In celebration of my 30th birthday -- and to prove that I could do it -- on August 27th 2007, I ran 30 miles. I started at the office around 5:30pm and headed north across the GGB finishing in West Marin's San Geranimo a little after 11pm.
I got the idea reading about ultra-marathoner and fellow bay area resident Dean Karnazes. Unlike Dean, I didn't finish with a blinding realization of untapped potential so I don't plan to enter the bad water .
I stopped a couple of times to snack and drink water. It wasn't easy, but I took it slow and it wasn't that hard either. It was a bit boring at times and in hind sight, I don't think I'd like to run over Drake again with 25+ miles already to my legs credit.
